Shaalpoph stands for Literature because it’s the act of sharing warmth with a Kanger and telling a story. In Shaalpoph there is always an older person telling a story to a younger person while sharing the warmth of a single Kanger. In Shaalpoph section we publish fiction; mostly short stories, memoirs and poetry by Kashmiri writers. We will also publish translations of Kashmiri literature into English.
In this story, Sadaf Wani presents a memory of an everyday that persists. It touches upon the relationship between gender and city-spaces in militarized Kashmir, narrated by a spirit that wanders around the city picking up peculiarities and stories.
