On 17 April, Kashmir valley witnessed widespread student protests against government forces assault on students in Pulwama Degree College two days before. The protests intensified in Srinagar city’s Lal Chowk area where young college students, particularly women - clashed with the government forces resulting in injuries to at least fifty people and severe head injuries to a young female college student. The student protests have only escalated in the last two weeks without any signs of abating or dying down.
